Volunteer Opportunities

Habitat Builds

We volunteer with the Greater Columbus and Delaware County Habitat affiliates. Contact Rachel Stork at hfhvolunteer@osu.edu for more info on when you can volunteer. You can also get more info from the weekly listserv newsletter.

RACE FOR A ROOF

Looking to get in shape for the summer? Sign up for Habitat’s first annual Race for a Roof 5k run/walk! We need both volunteers and participants for the race. If you would like to be a participant, sign up on http://www.premierraces.com/races.htm or register on race day Sunday, May 18th at 8 am at 1920 Coffey Rd (Sisson Hall). The race starts at 9am. If you would like to volunteer before or during the race, email Stacey at pearson.156@osu.edu.

CANS FOR HABITAT

Greater Columbus is starting up their Cans for Habitat program, where aluminum cans are recycled and the credit is put towards the construction of a Habitat house.  There are several opportunities in the next few weeks to help get the word out to the Columbus community (as well as collect some cans).  Also, we'll be working on getting the participation of the OSU campus in this project.  Email Alex Wohlgemuth.6@osu.edu if you're interested in helping out at all, or if you just want some more information.

Crew Leads

Are you experienced in construction or crew leadership? Contact Dan Skierkiewicz if you are interested in being a crew lead with OSU Habitat.

Rent-a-Habitater

We are looking for individuals with construction experience to help implement our “Rent-A-Habitater” fundraiser in which faculty and staff hire us to complete yard work, small building projects, and various renovation projects for a donation to Habitat for Humanity at Ohio State projects.  If you are interested and have construction experience, please contact Dan at skierkiewicz.1@osu.edu with your name, e-mail/phone, areas of ‘expertise,' best days/hours of availability, and transportation situation.  We look forward to building with you!

ACCESSALL PROGRAM

Greater Columbus could use some help with their new partnership with the AccessAll initiative. They work to bring computers and internet into the homes of Habiat families. Greater Columbus is looking for volunteers to help coordinate installation days, train families in the usage of their new computers/the internet, set up computers at the homes, teach computer courses or assist families during these courses. If this sounds like someting you would be interested in helping out with, email Lindsey Miller at Lmiller@habitat-columbus.org.
